Today, my mom has gone completely insane and insists we only flush the toilet or wash our hands at the start or end of the day, "to save on bills." My young sister thinks it's the best idea ever. My mom makes our food, and my sister just loves to touch everyone's faces. FML

I know. I tried to explain, but that got me screamed at. My mom accused me of acting like the parent and cussed me out.

If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down

Invest in hand sanitizer! Actually, not having running water is linked to health problems. NAMELY for these two reasons. And stale pee in the summer heat stinks.

In my city the city pays for part of the water main repair FOR THE RESIDENTS to try to keep a standard of living and health. California has a "yellow mellow" flushing idea in drought: only flush when "it's brown". Both of these promote water use. And don't let your sister touch your face.

Just start washing your hands in the back of the toilet (the tank), then that water will be reused when you flush, use soap . You will have clean hands and a clean toilet. Moms will be impressed at your ingenuity .

What she saves on bills, she may well lose on medication and time off work if some of those lovely germs make their way to places they shouldn't. Crazy woman.

Half of that's easily sorted, make your own food.

The average cost of water is .15 cents per gallon. Flushing the toilet and washing your hands doesn't even cost a half of a cent. Forgoing basic, first world sanitation for the sake of saving literally PENNIES a month is beyond moronic.

Put a bottle of hand sanitizer in the bathroom...and plz don't invite anyone over for dinner!

agree with 53 ,and add to that some prints or showes about how unhealthy what she is doing !

I would be extremely grossed out if my parents told me that. Has she ever read the posters at the doctor's office about washing your hands?

If your Mom wants to cut down on water, what about limiting shower time, only watering plants on certain days, not using the dishwasher/washing dishes in a plugged sink. SO many other ways to cut down whilst being environmentally friendly as well.

who the hell washes dishes in an unplugged sink anyway? Then you would also need to put new soap on every thing...

Judging by your answer, you may not know that some people washes their dishes under running water with a detergent covered sponge, which surprisingly holds quite a lot so there's no need to reapply.
