Today, my mother gave me hell for my "video game addiction". The "game" in question? A professional flight simulator program that I'm using to complement my flight school lessons. FML

Try explaining to her the purpose behind it. Surely she'll understand once she knows why you are on it so much.

"Get off the game son!" "Mommmm I can't get off or the plane will crash and cause an international tragedy with dozens of casualties!"

It wouldn't really be an international tragety of only a few dozen people died. More like hundreds.

3 hostages and it becomes an international tragedy/crisis.

Older people can be so ridiculous, it's exhausting

That's pretty inconsiderate. Yes we (are)grew up in a society filled with technology. That doesn't mean other people understand and doesn't mean they have to conform to how we do things now. Try to have some empathy for difference in generations and how they react to new things.

I don't have empathy for someone who is giving their child hell for something she doesn't understand. She jumped to conclusions and therefore I don't have sympathy for that.

Yes but your first comment is generalizing all elderly people...

A lot of older people think that what they don't understand is therefore bad. My grandma says the word internet like its a curse and refuses to look at any computer even to read an article or see a picture. I agree with #17. As a whole, the baby boomers are close minded and ignorant. Exceptions do exist though my father-in-law is kickass.

Close minded and ignorant? I can't believe I came back to read that. Baby boomers parents and themselves fought through wars and raised many people through hard times (Great Depression etc.) You are inconsiderate and narrow minded, only care about what is to come, everything in the past is nothing to you. Nice.

really I'm sixty seven years old and I wrote my first FORTRAN program in 1965 and I finished my most recent Android app last week

I use a Flight Simulator aswell, and I use it in my spare time, my luckily my parents understand why I use it so much. 1. it's a passion 2. the virtual airline I'm with raises funds for bowel cancer, which is the cancer the CEO's dad died from, and using the flight sim is his only connection left with his dad. Before every flight, he gets his dads ashes frok the living room, and puts him in his room.

Why does your post swap from first to third person half way through?

@21 Because he's talking about a different person in the second half.

Ah sorry. My dyslexia pulled one over on me. I thought point 2 was solely about the ceo hah

Seriously, what the actual **** are you high on?

what's funnier is that gamers have a quicker reflex time than those who watch tv because they're still actively using their brain. people will find anything to complain about.

She probably has her own addiction as well...she quits hers you'll quit yours...even though it's a good one to have

Yeah, those programs are useless and are a waste of time and money. All you end up doing is chasing the bubble when in a real plane. Any instructor will tell you the same.

What's the simulator? I've been looking for a good one for a while.

It's FSX with VATSIM and plenty of addons!
