Today, my new prescription medicine for my chronic acne did in fact work. It worked by inflaming the skin around my zits so that they blended in. FML

Well that usually happens at first, be patient and your skin will probably get better. :)

Umm maybe try washing your face better.

#41, I'm not sure if you're intellectually prepared for this, but the main cause of acne is excess dirt and oil build up on and right underneath the skin, so more efficient washing is the best way to combat it.

Recently started using cleansing wipes, and nothing else at all. BEST THING EVER. I'm 26 and thought my skin would have cleared up by now, but it had not. Everything else I tried made it worse. My skin is too sensitive. Simple wipes have drastically improved my life. Any brand! :)

I read "acne" as "anus" and was concerned that you needed medication to maintain your anus. My bad and sorry about the acne!

Well atleast you're an optimist. Sorry to hear OP! Hopefully you'll grow out of those zits soon.

Isotretinoin, minocycline and topical retinoids can all cause photosensitivity. If you just started recently and were out in the sun that could have caused some serious burning. If you haven't had unprotected exposure to UV light (sun, tanning bed) and it's just worse acne, #38 is right - often accutane will make it worse and dry out your skin a lot before it improves. @ #45 it is much more complex than just 'dirt and oil'. There are four primary factors involved in the formation of acne: increased sebum production (i.e. more oil due to hormones), hyperproliferation of ductal epidermis (skin cells replicating and plugging ducts), bacterial colonization of the ducts, and inflammation. Lots of different agents you use to wash your face will only address one or two of these factors (i.e. most washes are salicylic acid which helps with desquamation and removing oil very temporarily). OP good luck and talk to your pharmacist!

A little concealer and some powder and you'll be back in business

Try using "witch hazel" as a toner - after you wash your face and before you moisturize. Its known to have worked for a lot of ppl -including myself!

I feel your pain OP, my acne was so bad that I was on Acutane twice. Trust me it will go away in time and everyone has acne at least once in their life.
