Today, my overly-clean mum decided to drop by and surprise me by cleaning my house while I was out jogging. She used half a bottle of bleach, and now it hurts to blink, let alone breathe. FML

That's dangerous. Perhaps open all the windows to air out your house? Just don't stay in there, inhaling those fumes can affect you.

plot twist she's trying to poison you

Another plot twist: she poisoned your neighbours too and framed you.

At least she didn't use ammonia with the bleach, but that still sucks

Air freshener with odor eliminator?!

I can't tell if that's what you're calling the bleach or if you're suggesting OP to use air freshener. If it's the second one, that'll just make the air situation worse, making it even harder to breathe. They just need to crack open the windows and let it air out for a while

You should be grateful she cleaned you're home..

First of all that's not her house to clean and if she wanted to clean it, she should of asked OP. Second, even if OP and his/her mom are close enough to sporadically clean each other's houses, bleach is a very toxic substance, therefore needs to be used with caution. Finally, what's the point of having a clean house if OP can't even enjoy it, let alone breath in it. So yeah, it's understandable that OP is not grateful. OP's mom is not a little kid that needs to be supervised all the time, she should know better. FYL OP.

Not really. I mean, it's a nice gesture but it's still her house and she didn't ask for the help. It's an invasion of her home and privacy.

So I'm curious then, #5, if someone were to enter your home without your knowledge, you won't care and be in fact, grateful, if they just started cleaning and bleaching it?

you're one of those control freak people (#5). Always with the "you should be grateful..." No.

Exactly what I was thinking. Open all the windows and let the fresh air in!

It certainly has affected your mother...

nope it defeats the purpose, if you open the windows you'll let the dust sets in and before you know it... 2nd surprise cleaning again! just turn on all the ventilations and leave the house for a few more hours.

She's probably not overly clean, and you're just a slob.

Sort of? It's a bit of an invasion of privacy though. The OP didn't ask for help and just because the mother thinks the house needs to be clean doesn't mean the OP wants that or wants her mother doing it.
