Today, my sister and I went to visit my grandma. She looked at my sister and said, "You are just so skinny! You need to eat more cookies!" She then turned to me and said, "You should lay off the cookies!" FML

Hey, OP here. My grandmother has NEVER had a filter. My father has told me all sorts of stories from when he was a kid. After I went home, she felt terrible and called my dad to tell him that she was sorry. My sister, who's really my stepsister, has always been skinnier. So is her mom, sister and brother. It's part of their genetics. I've known them since I was little and think of them as my blood family. I've had body issues in the past, and that's probably the main reason it hurt so much. I still love my grandma, no matter what. Thanks for all the nice comments guys!

Even if they try to hide it, parents and grandparents always have a favorite.

My grandma once told me she thought I was going to be a serial killer.

I love how grandparents have no filter when they talk.

Don't know why this was down voted it made me laugh

Maybe she should lay off the booze before her family visits. It seems to impact her common sense

Maybe she just needs a cookie to cheer up

Polly wants a cracker! Grandkids want a cookie! Grandma wants some tact?

Dont feel so bad.. Your sister might have taken it just as bad you

I was going to say.. both sisters are getting told their body shape isn't right here! I have a thin friend who gets self concious because people think its more okay to insult her for it, 'too skinny' isn't a compliment!

But atleast she gets to eat cookies

My parents and grandparents say the same, though subtly. Basically, they call me fat, and my sister super skinny, even though we are close in weight range...

Most grandparents shoot such uncomfortable remarks and as respect for their age, we can do nothing but put up that weird hesitant smile and nod in agreement though we may not agree. OP probably you can retort by saying granny you need to use the anti-wrinkle cream

Your grandma was trolling before you was even born... and that makes her awesome.

Older people sometimes have trouble holding stuff back. Don't worry about it OP, no matter how many cookies you eat, there will always be someone out there for you
