Today, my sister asked me to help her set up for my niece's birthday party. Being the lazy person that I am, I got my niece to blow up the non-helium balloons. Apparently she's allergic to latex and I'll be the one paying for the hospital bill. FML

Today, my sisters and I were throwing my mom a birthday party. Since I'm not good at baking, I ordered her a really nice and expensive cake. As my daughter and I were headed out the door, she told me she had added some sprinkles to make it pretty. It was the silica beads from a package. FML

I voted YDI, but I think I may have been a bit hasty. Who's to say that the allergy was well known? I mean, I know parents today, and if their child is allergic to something, they don't keep it in the house. I think if they knew she was allergic to latex the wouldn't get latex non-helium balloons. If they knew about it and still got them, they should be the ones paying the hospital bill, because it's their own damn fault there were latex balloons in the first place. Chances are they didn't know, and what a way to find you. At least she's okay, right?

That's so mean!!! You made the girl blow up the balloons for her own birthday party, and now you've ruined her birthday! Being lazy never pays off. But her mom must be pretty stupid to even have latex balloons at all if her daughter is allergic.

1. Who else thinks it's pathetic that everyone is bashing the OP for giving their niece latex balloons when it specifically states that the kid's parent BOUGHT them in the first place? Either she has a shitty mom or they didn't know about the allergy. 2. I think it's pretty ridiculous that everyone is bashing the OP for having their niece blow up her own balloons, but if you're over the age of twelve, you've probably had to help set up your own party in some small way--lighting the candles, cleaning the house, etc. Grow up.
