1) she's 3...don't read too much into it 2) some people ( myself included ) can take an ENTIRE BOX of zyrtec or benadryl and still sneeze and wheeze when in the presence of a cat, and shots take YEARS before you know they worked or not. It has nothing to do with short hair or long hair (hell, I can't even be around those NAKED cats, I still sneeze my brains out) -- the things people are allergic to are their dander (dead skin cells) or saliva (and cats lick themselves all the time). 3) buy a goldfish --- name it Cat.
How about getting a special breed that doesn't trigger your allergies? Hairless cats (sphynx) are so ugly they're adorable. Also, some breeds are OK for some allergics. Maine Coon, for instance, can be fine for some people who are allergic to cats in general. Of course, getting a cat of a specific breed can cost a great deal of money. At three years old, your kids aren't really old enough to take on chores to prove that they deserve a cat. I'm a fan of making kids work to get what they want - don't let 'em get spoiled and used to getting everything they want; that'll just come back and bite them later in life. Just get them stuffed animals for now. And don't take the comment seriously. Like everyone else already said, they're not wishing for your death. They're just wondering if you are the only obstacle to getting a cat. Maybe explain to them that having a cat is a lot of responsibility? You have to feed it and take it to the vet, which can be really expensive.
SO she's only three and she's being silly. And she doesn't know what she's saying. WE do. It can still hurt.
Sounds like my kids.
Haha ur daughter must love cats very much... Maybe more than you.
Chill, she's only three.
