Today, same as every other night, I sat in my car outside my home, just to avoid going inside. I live alone. FML

piper182 tells us more.

Hey OP here, in my car... I work 11-12 hours 6 days a week so though I wish for a dog, I can't. I stay in the car because when I go in I have to plan for the next day. In the car it's quiet and peaceful. Living with others was worse but I am a lonely person. I do sometimes drink a beer once I'm parked. I agree it's sad and I'm not a very social person and I hate it about myself.

I dont understand why someone would do that?

To the people that are all commenting about not understanding why; it's that a home can feel big and empty. Also that homes are generally seen as having multiple people in them. Whereas it is 'perfectly normal' for a person to be by themselves in a car The OP doesn't want to go home and face the realization that they're all alone, possibly with no family, friends and/or loved ones

Well is OP lives alone then who will watch the dog while theyre at work?

True, if Op works really long hours a dog may not be a good fit, but a cat or other pet that doesn't need as much care might be perfect and give op the companionship he needs.

Time to get yourself a dog, mans best friend.

I'm sure you can find someone.. You need to try and put yourself out there.. Join a club or find a group hobby.. Meet friends and who else knows.. Good luck..

Maybe even try online dating. But getting a hobby and joining a group with the same hobby is a great idea!

Another possible idea is to try going to church. Not everyone's cup of tea, but for me personally I know that the people at church are not only friends but have become family. You could also get involved with helping out around there so it's not just a Sunday thing. Best of luck Op!

Yeah........ Or you know a friendly neighbourhood orgy! Lol I'd take anything over religion.

loneliness, but my guess is if you have to ask why, you are too young to understand.

Uhh, I'm out of high school, out of college, been on my own for a few years, and I still had to read a few comments on here to understand what was going on. I don't think age has a lot to do with it. Then again, I go to bars and just drink water to meet folks, or go get intentionally lost on a back road if I'm in no hurry to get home. I FIND things to do.

52 - Young people don't understand loneliness? That absolutely ridiculous. Even toddlers can be lonely at times.
