Today, several coworkers think the operation scar on my wrist is really a failed suicide attempt, because I study design and apparently, "Artists are suicidal, right?" FML

Hi, OP here. Great to see this published! A follow-up to what many pointed out - they did not actually ask me directly. Instead, they asked one of my friends "What's with her scar?". She already knew me during the accident and operation, so she said that it was an operation scar. However, the others started asking "Are you sure? Maybe it's a cover-up?" etc. The operation was less than a year ago, so I hope the scar will fade in time. I don't really care about their opinion, nor do I think that there would be anything shameful about a suicide scar - I rather thought this kind of stupidity was at least good for an FML. Let them think however they like.

That is an unfortunate location for a surgery scar though.

Yes because all artists are suicidal. FYL

If it's an operation scar, then it is pretty straight has stitch marks too, right? At least mine does. Have them look harder at it, and if they still believe it's a suicide attempt, then they are just dumbasses that can't recognize the truth when its right in front of them.

I have a scar in the same place and people always give me really concerned looks when they see it

No, we all cut off parts of our body for the one we love. Geez, get it right

Not sure why anyone would down vote this comment. It's actually hilarious

Dude I'm studying design and this work load has got me suicidal.

When my cousin was 3, he broke his wrist and had to get surgery to get it fixed. He is now 22 and has people ask him about the scar. They scoff and say there is no way it is a surgery scar. People are idiots OP

Holy sh*t the ignorance is strong in the world these days....

I completely understand OP. I just had wrist surgery and have been very self conscious about it, thinking people would assume the same. Sorry OP.

Rude much? I have scars on my wrist from a suicide attempt and I hate when people point them out. Even if your scar was from a suicide attempt, it's none of their God damn business. If they won't believe you, then just tell them to **** off.

I have a scar down my right wrist from scaphoid surgery and I get the same kind of comments!

One scar on one wrist? If anything that would be a self harm scar, not a suicide attempt. Even so, they don't point that shit out. That's just rude. FYL, OP.
