Today, somebody broke in to my house and stole my laptop, which had years worth of family photos on it. Where was I when it was stolen? At Staples, buying supplies that included CDs to finally back up my pictures. FML

ydi. What kind of moron doesn't backup? #13 just plug the drive into another machine, since it sounds like a mobo issue.

FYL for getting robbed. YDI for not using one of the hundreds of FREE online photo albums.

If you're backing things up on CDS, you're doing it wrong. Get Carbonite or something: http://www.carbonite.com/

Screw carbonite -- use a combination of Picasa (free) for pictures and video and CrashPlan (free for home use) for *EVERYTHING*. Hell, Rush Limbaugh is a pitch man for carbonite -- I would not touch that with a 33 1/2 foot pole.

If you're using Carbonite you're definitely doing it wrong. You pay yearly for a monthly upload limit. Mozy is a lot cheaper and better.

if you have the serial number and warrentys papers you can submit a police report. they will run the numbers against pawn shops and maybe you'll get your laptop back. I got my dslr camera back this way.
