Seriously, everyone who blames the OP or says she should have done something and it's her fault - are you crazy?! Stop and think before you write something like that! Of course it all depends on what kind of dog was it, but once a dog attacks something it's extremely hard to have it just stop, as then it's just going on instincts. My whole family including me are animal lovers, we had dogs since I can remember, and still both of my parents got mauled by other people's dogs. When our basset hound got attacked by another dog in the park my mom tried to drag ours away, and the other dog turned right on her and bit right through her hand so she had to have surgery and physiotherapy for damaged tendons. It was a Shih Tzu so a small dog but that didn't matter at all. At a different time my father was walking our very gentle girl dog, another medium-sized dog came up to them and started growling, so my father lifted our dog up in his arms so she'd be out of the way. The other dog lunged at my father and locked jaws around his knee! The frantic owner came running and tried to prise his dog's jaws open, with the dog growling at everybody and clamping down even more . It took them I think 20 minutes until the dog finally let go and then tried biting his own owner... luckily my dad didn't need to have surgery. So to be honest... I lived with dogs all my life and still I would never put my hand anywhere near any dog's mouth if he was angry, biting/attacking something and wasn't my own dog. And in this case - even if it was a small dog then the poor little kitten had no chance. If the dog was big then it was probably one snap of his jaws and that was it :/ The fault lies with the owners and not the poor OP. Don't let the blaming get to you and I hope you get over the trauma :(
You're a bad pet sitter. .
*parents get back* when you left your kitten was still breathing right? ..... (kevin hart voice)
wtf why would you leave a dog get close to poor little kittens in the first place
Instinctively dogs hate cats. Yes Ive seen where in some cases they do get along but not always. This same problem fell upon a friend of mine which her German shepherd ripped her cat to shreds. Woke up, went down stairs and she said it was a blood bath. part of the cat in the kitchen, another in the living room, and the rest in her parents bed where she found her dog chewing on the head. Got to love the animal kingdom. haha
thats just terrible. i love cats, especially kittens. this just makes me feel bad

That's horrible :( I am sorry you had to witness that! This happened to me once when I was about 15. They were my grandparents pets.
No, the dog did.
