Today, while teaching my brother to drive on the freeway, I told him to downshift from 4th to 3rd. He went into 1st instead, blowing my engine and transmission. I can't afford to get it fixed. FML

If a mistake like that caused so much damage, your car must have been ancient or super-crappy. Time to get a new one, even a new used one. Get an automatic this time.

That really sucks. But your brother should just take professional driving lessons anyway, it's a risk you chose to take by letting a beginner drive your car.

that's crap! for one why are you downshifting on the freeway? two if he's just learning to drive there highways ain't where you wanna go and three OF YOU'RE GOING THAT FAST YOU CAN'T PUT IT IN FIRST GEAR!!!! Your an idiot who just wanted something on here and the one who approved it is an idiot that doesn't know manual cars! oh and if you were able to Hercules it into first at, at least 40 on a freeway where speeds are 60+ you would demolish your clutch and flywheel long before your tranny, or cause a wreck for going to slow!
