Today, while working as a barista, a customer asked me for "gluten free milk". When I told her that most milk is gluten free, she flew into a fit of rage and cussed me out for being a "cheeky bitch". My manager then lectured me about not being "patronising" to customers. FML

Next time someone makes a request like that, just tell 'em you'll give them what they asked for. Saves you the trouble of getting harassed for doing nothing wrong.

Wow. Someone is really taking the gluten free fad diet to an extreme. Or is lactose intolerant and doesn't realise what that actually means...

Anyone who legitimately can't have gluten for medical reasons would know this...

I hated working as a barista because of customers like that. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

That barista life tho XD you should follow barista life on Instagram and Twitter because it's friggin hilarious! It's a good place for fellow baristas to vent :)

I think YDI, sorry. If the customer asked for "gluten free" milk, and milk is "gluten free", just make the drink. Your job is to make drinks, not to educate the ignorant public.

Yes next time if they ask for gluten free milk tell them if they got laid last night they could've drink regular milk

The comment about getting laid is completely irrelevant and non-sensical, and also rather demeaning towards people who have gluten allergies, sensitivities or intolerances.

what milk isn't gluten free? it really bothers me when things are advised to be free of something they clearly shouldn't have in the first place. like fat free marshmallows. no marshmallow has ever had fat in it, why would they advertise it like that? it was probably advertising like that that made the customer think some milk contains gluten.

Surrounded by stupidity are we?! Ya gotta learn how to treat people like that with kid gloves. Best of luck in all things.
