Today, while working as a barista, a customer asked me for "gluten free milk". When I told her that most milk is gluten free, she flew into a fit of rage and cussed me out for being a "cheeky bitch". My manager then lectured me about not being "patronising" to customers. FML

Next time someone makes a request like that, just tell 'em you'll give them what they asked for. Saves you the trouble of getting harassed for doing nothing wrong.

Wow. Someone is really taking the gluten free fad diet to an extreme. Or is lactose intolerant and doesn't realise what that actually means...

life lesson: Customer is always right. even when they are clearly wrong. you shouldn't correct them.

Never let stupidity or ignorance fester.

Have you ever worked in retail? You let a customer who is that wrong go once they confuse every single staff member they ever come across. Better to correct them nicely every time.

I work at Edible Arrangements and had a customer ask if there was cocoa in our chocolate.

Lol, I had a woman come into my cookie store and tell me she HATED chocolate, but she ordered a chocolate chip cookie with chocolate candies in it to eat with her lunch. Retail is . . . never dull.

Sounds like they meant lactose rather than gluten... Probably one of the hipsters who claims to have an intolerance when they have no idea what that means.

If I ask for fat free water, I want my fat free water, no need to comment on that - it's true anyways.

And people like you are the reason why I hate people.

I can't believe how many stupid people there are when it comes to trends. People who react like that aren't gluten free for health reasons, they are because it's popular. If you were truly on any diet you would know what your diet actually stands for let alone what gluten really is

I had a coworker who tried it, and repeatedly tried to convince how she had "more energy" and "felt better than she had in years" without gluten in her diet. Explaining to her that the higher quantity of fruits she was eating might have contributed due to higher levels of sugar didn't change her opinion in the slightest.

As someone who works in retail I can say I feel your pain. People are such assholes to you sometimes and you can never win. Try not to let it bring you down and do your best to make the next day better!

Ask her if she wants some fat free water with that

I'm a Celiac who has a gluten free diet. I think she's getting the "getting sick from milk" and "milk has gluten" all screwed up. We gluten intolerants and Celiacs naturally don't feel too well after milk, it gives the feeling of being glutenized but there's no gluten in it. Some of us are in denial that along with gluten intolerance we may not be able to process milk. :)
