Rule #1 when calling in sick: Avoid public places.
or you can go to a place where you're 110% sure the teacher will never come!
Why do you need to play sick for college? I mean, in HS you're REQUIRED to be in class, and you can get in trouble if you're not. You can skip classes in college with no problems if you want. I mean, unless you skip a bunch of them, then you're going to miss out on the stuff you need to know to pass, and some classes will drop you if you miss class too much. But for one day... why bother telling them you have the flu? Just don't show up, and the next day you can say you had family matters to take care of. No biggie. But NOOOO you had to email them and say you had the flu, and then when you got caught lying, you're embarrassed.
I left in the middle of class and nobody commented on it. :P I think it depends on class size, some are pretty small and an absence would be obvious, but a lot of them are so big the profs don't even know the students lol
If it's a smaller class where participation is expected, it's entirely possible that participation and attendance make up a huge portion of the grade. I had some fourth year seminars where participation in class discussions was worth 30% of the mark. At least one professor I had basically divided the 30% up over the 10 once a week classes we had and you got a score out of three for participation eac.h day. If that's the grading scheme that was being used, then telling his professor her was sick could have been a way to avoid being penalized for not participating that day
I could see an ethics class being required for something like a law or medical degree.
You should have started sneezing.
dude, you dont go to starbucks when you say you are sick! its just stupid! YDI!
Bad move dude, but I feel for your need for a mental health day. Next time, have someone else go out for you or prepare coffee at home :D
You're in college. You're an adult. You can skip class if you want. If your professor doesn't like it, he can give back his paycheck.
at my university classes are so big that no-one even knows you're in their class, let alone know if you're not there

isn't this a very obvious YDI?
Oh, the irony. Your ethics must be taking a sick day, too. *cough* *sneeze* Start sniffling and tell him that a Pumpkin Spice Latte really clears your congestion. :] OR, punch him in the face and run.
