Today, while at the nail salon, my boyfriend called. Since I was getting my nails done, I had to put him on speaker. The whole salon heard him break up with me. I can still hear their snickering in my head. FML

FYL, I'm really sorry he did that and I'm even more sorry the whole salon laughed. That was grossly unprofessional and uncalled for. I would make some kind of complaint about that if I were you, not that it would reverse what they did but some people need to be taught when it is and isn't OK to cross boundaries. As for your now ex- embrace life without that douche x

I'm sorry that happened to you, OP. He's clearly a jerk. But if he's the kind of person to break up with you over the phone, he's not worth any grief. And, just saying, you should never put a phone call on speaker in public. Never. It's one of those universal social rules.

While that was inconsiderate of him to do that way, putting a personal call on speaker in a public place is pretty inconsiderate as well. Not only to who you are talking to, but to everyone around you. Some of the snickering may have come more from discomfort at being forced to listen to it happen rather then actually finding it funny.

Why wouldn't u hang up?? I would have started by saying I'm on speaker phone at the salon- that sucks but I wouldn't have gone through a while break up on speaker phone....

I wonder if she wouldn't have answered it, if he would have still broken up with her through a voicemail message. "Hi OP, it's your boy.. er.. ex-boyfriend. Yeah, I just don't think it's gonna work out. It's over. So.. that's it. K bye."
