There's being scared and then there's acting like a jerk. Fair enough if he'd said 'look sorry man, we don't have any money' or at least stayed with her when she handed it over but he potentially put her in harms way. If the mugger wasn't happy with the amount she gave (as the boyfriend implied she had a lot more) then something serious could have happened
