Today, I sprained my sternum in my rugby match. I now can't yell, laugh, cough, inhale or exhale fully, or sneeze without a sharp pain shooting through my chest. I have a pollen allergy, and sneeze every 5 or 10 minutes. FML

A trip to the hospital may be beneficial.

It's called costochondritis, people. Look it up. I feel for you, OP. I'm dealing with the same problem now, minus the allergies, plus a cold. Going back to the doctor about it tomorrow, actually. I'd suggest asking for a combination of anti-inflammatories & pain meds. It's been the only thing to help me, and even though it doesn't totally kill the pain, at least it helps me sleep at night. :3

Ok. (1) The sternum is 3 bones connected by intercostals, so yes, it can be sprained. (2) I would suggest trying a Neti Pot, for sinus irrigation, perhaps even in addition to benadryl or other anti-allergy meds. They are great for allergies. Good luck!

sorry but your wrong the sternum is one bone

dude if you put your finger right between your nose and lip it stops you from sneezing try it out i swear it works

#40 you cant sprain a bone you can only sprain joints you don't actually sprain the bone itself when you sprain your wrist or ankle DA
