Why the f**k didn't the parent take the child home early and then tell him/her? I'm sure that a family death could've gotten the parent out of work for the day..
It's awful sweet of you for comforting the kids, and sweet of the kids to care about their classmate.
What type of parent comes into a class room and tells a kid their grandparent is dead and then just leaves?
"Hey son grandma died, see you at three" WTF?!
Aww. That's so adorable :')
I like the idea of someone being there for kids when they start to understand loss. It was potentially a very educational moment for them, and depending on how it's handled, you could have done a good thing for the kids.
unacceptable, you can't tell a child that and then leave. they should have waited until after school or taken them with them and let them have a day off.

Kids will cry over anything, although it sucks you have to deal with it. Sorry charlie. And how shitty of the mom to just come by tell the bad news and leave.
The kid's mom didn't take him/her home? Jeez.
