Alanis, we've got another case!

By Arghh - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I had an allergic reaction to cranberry juice. The only reason I was drinking cranberry juice was to help with a bladder infection. Now I'm covered in what looks like a rash and peeing constantly. FML

Cranberry Juice is usually more of a "preventative" measure. And if you have a bladder infection, see a doctor because the chances of juice helping THAT drastically is very minimal. Maybe a little bit, but you'd be better off with medication.

That probably isn't a reaction.... it's more than likely systemic thrush, that spreads over your body. Sorry, OP.

OMG so sorry :( I've dealt with a few UTI's in the past. They are the worst! If I couldn't get cranberry juice the best thing is to buy 2 gallons of water. Drink 1 gallon per day. I know it'll make you go to the bathroom more, but that is what you want to try and flush out the bad bacteria.

Others have posted to drink water too since OP can't drink cranberry juice. :) So I'm not the only one with a so called "terrible idea"! :P Most likely reason OP is using the cranberry method is either they haven't or can't see a doctor. Which other methods would work best then? Also miss butt secks...Anyone that participates in anal to vaginal intercourse usually has a higher rate of UTIs caused from the transfer of bacteria. So perhaps I'm wrong and you've experienced UTIs so much that you're the queen of knowledge when it comes to a UTI. :D

Since when is cranberry juice a home remedy for a bladder infection? Also, home remedies suck. Go to the doctor like a normal person

cranberry juice mainly prevents bladder infections. it does not cure them.

Cranberry juice works for UTI's, but once the infection gets to the bladder it's antibiotics time. Good luck and rest lots.

go to the doctor that's something you don't want to wait out.

Why are so many of you assuming that the OP didn't go to the doctor and get medication for her UTI? She said that she's "drinking cranberry juice to HELP" with her infection. Ive done this along with taking the meds that were prescribed for the UTI.

Go to a doctor. my next door neighbor tried to self treat bladder infections. he had one for years and ended up in the hospital over it.

All this drug store medical advice just makes me so happy.
