As someone with severe TMJ, I feel you. I can essentially dislocate my jaw at will these days. Makes zombie costumes easy. That said, I hope you heal up quick!
Thanks for putting the fear of yawning into me now D:
Sure are a lot of FMLs involving ERs lately. I think we should stay home for a couple of days. Also, FYL and get well soon OP
If this has happened before you might want a doctor to do some more testing. TMJ has been mentioned, but Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is something else to look into. I've learned to cup my lower jaw to make sure I don't accidentally dislocate my jaw when I yawn. Having that little reminder has actually been a huge help.
That happened to a girl in my class too. She yawned and just couldn't close her mouth again
How the hell do you dislocate your jaw by yawning
If you have loose joints then you don't have the natural catch (for lack of better word) that tells you to stop opening your mouth. I've partially dislocated my hips while twisting because I felt if I could them to pop juuuusssst right I'd get a completely different feeling. I wasnt wrong.
the jaw is the easiest joint in the body to dislocate.
I have EDS and can dislocate joints just by walking. It isn't fun and it is extremely painful
Happened to me many times before, very uncomfortable. I feel your pain OP.
Ironically, an FML I found on google images about someone dislocating their jaw by yawning is what got me in to FML :P
Totally did that before. My family didn't believe that I was just yawning when it happened since my fiancé and I were sharing a room. I only had to ask for their help because I couldn't wake him up

I'm imaging you look like you're possessed. sorry op! Hopefully it didn't hurt too much to get it put back in place
Too bad it's not Halloween. Joking aside, I hope it didn't hurt that bad to relocate it. That's always been a big fear of mine, so that sucks.
