Today, my aunt said that it looked like I lost some weight. I was pleased with this, since I've been trying to lose some. My mom, for some reason, thought it was insulting. She pulled me to aside to assure me that I most definitely don't look any skinnier. FML

Sounds like mum was just trying to be reassuring about something she thought was insulting. Heart in the right place, brain (or ears) not so much.

She's just saying that because she thinks it's insulting to lose weight.

What do you care about other people's opinion on this? Buy a scale and know for sure

Do not mind your mom and just focus on the people who make you feel good about your self which a *mom* should do

Maybe your mum meant that you were needed to lose weight in the first place, and that you look good both now and then.

Is your mom from Madagascar or something? Because if she thinks a beautiful girl has two nice chins, that would explain it. Anyway, I'm sure both your aunt and your mom think you look beautiful.

Mauritania, not Madagascar, is the country where being fat is the standard of beauty. Google is moderately reliable for random facts such as these.

Honestly, you should consider looking up the healthy weight for your age, height, and gender, and if it is below average than maybe you should reconsider what your mom said, and if not, than go ahead and do what your doing op! But don't get too thin to the point where it's unhealthy

If someone is willingly unhealthy but does not use the medical system unwisely to try to fix it, which would make them become a strain, leave them alone.

Maybe she just doesn't see it because she sees you everyday? I'm sorry, OP. No one wants/deserves to be let down like that, especially by their mom! Just work for your goals, do it for you! It'll be worth it in the end. You could use her negativity as motivation, but once again, I suggest you just do it for you. Be comfortable in your own shoes and don't be too hard on yourself :-)
