Today, my dad texted me saying he had "big news." I immediately called, thrilled, because I assumed he meant that he finally found a job and that our money troubles were over. The "big news" was him being excited at seeing an actor from one TV show he likes in another TV show. FML

Today, I was so happy to hear my phone go "Ding" that I jumped for joy out of my couch. It was actually a character on my TV getting a text. FML

Today, I finally got a phone call from a publisher saying they would publish the book I'd written. I'd gotten loads of rejection letters, so I was so excited. Until I realized it was my dad, feeling sorry for me. FML

Today, I proposed to the girl I have known for a while, since our Dads have worked together for 40 years. After I rang my Dad to tell him the good news, he told me that there was a position open at work, which had belonged to her Dad. My Dad had to fire him. FML

Today, my Dad called me to tell me that he had finally won the lottery and that I no longer had to worry about trying to find a way to pay for school. I was so excited I started crying. He then told me that he won $5 on a scratch off lotto ticket. He bought a sandwich. Funny dad. FML

Today, I got my first big promotion at work. Excited, I shared the news with my parents. My mom responded with, "That’s nice, dear, but your sister just got engaged," and hung up to go back to celebrating with her. FML

I'll probably get thumbed down to hell, but maybe he should spend a little less time with the tv and little more time with his resume. Being unemployed sucks, but sometimes it's our own fault. We tend to refuse jobs until we find the "perfect" one. Sometimes, we need to do what we can, until we can do what we want.

I hope your dad is actively searching for a job. If not I think its time to tell him to get off his ass, even if you are his kid. Supporting his intrests doesn't pay the bills.

I'm really sorry to say this but your husband is a bum. I'm 18 and I have three jobs. I'm starting to help my parents for the payments. Your husband needs to provide for his own family but he's not even taking it seriously.

I know I always get excited when one of my favorite actors/actresses are on another one of my favorite tv shows, but that's sad that the child of the parent worries more about money than the adult. Sorry OP, I hope everything gets better for you!
