I assume the main objectionable scents are the smoke and the canned tuna. Not much you can do about smoking scents except in the future specify a roommate has to be a non-smoker. You can always claim it's on the lease... Canned tuna is a special problem for food odors. You need to rinse out the empty can and lid before discarding it in the trash to avoid lingering smells in the kitchen. And adding a teaspoon of lemon or lime juice to canned tuna cuts the smell and improves the flavor... OP, I'm just glad I don't have a roommate besides my wife. She unfortunately likes canned salmon which stinks even worse than canned tuna - the same rinse the can and use lemon or lime helps there too.
