So actually, this is my FML, but i didn't know if it would let me do a follow up since I have a different user name. So now to tell the whole story. My brother was very young and my family isn't big on alcohol; the most they drink is during the holidays when they're with family. Anyway, The church basically exiled us because they thought we were all raging alcoholics. I just heard mom telling the story and thought i would post it. it goes to show that kids really will say the darnest things haha. He's 13 now and I'm 21, so now he knows what beer actually is, and definitely doesn't say that's his favorite drink.
Hopefully root beer
I like beer, it makes me a jolly old fellow. It helps me unwind, and sometimes it makes me feel mellow.
When you ask a kid what their favourite something is they will often list things that they think will sound cool or that someone else (relative, tv character etc) likes, especially if they don't have a favorite themselves. I'm not sure why your church would be so closed minded as to freak out like this over it, but you and your family are probably better off being out of that particular church.
I hope he meant root beer.
A similar thing happened to my brother, although we didn't get kicked out for it (I think it's stupid that a church would do something like that). They asked him what his favorite drink was and he said a "mixed drink". He was young enough to not know that was alcohol and that is what he called his drinks when he mixed all of the sodas together.
That's crazy that they took a silly mistake to such extremes!
Kids sometimes will say anything to look "cool" . Good thing he knows now haha.
anything to get out of sunday school. i mean its sunday and forced upon religion. no child should be forced into a religion, they should learn to know them all, positive and negatives and make an educated choice to believe in what they want.
I mean I'm 16 and I love beer, in the root variety

Wow what a nice Church. How very Christian to kick out people based on some silly thing a kid said. Clearly your family is better off without them.
Im guessing hes younger than 10?
