Bullying ain't cool, guys

Today, on my 30th birthday, my mom, aunt, and sister staged an intervention instead of throwing a party. Apparently I’m “ruining my life” by being 300lbs and being "single for 5 years" and I need to “get my act together.” They treated me like I’m some sort of criminal and reduced me to tears. FML

better time and place for such things though. I was over 300lbs and can say from experience it is unhealthy in a great many ways, but this is no the way to go about helping someone fix such things. people don't become 300lbs overnight, so if the family waited that long, they could have held off a couple more days. I still battle with my weight, not to such a degree, but if my family pulled a stunt like this on my birthday I would be livid.

They partially have a point but they probably said it cruel manner. It is good that they want you to be physically fit, in good health and with a soulmate. However, they shouldn't have reduced you to tears because that demotivates and spoils the message. I do implore you to start exercising more and practicing to be the best version of yourself. Go at your own pace and don't let insecurity wear you down.

don't take this as a negative...they love you and want the best for you. being healthy and happy is a part of that. your doctor would probably advise the same things.

i'm sorry, you don't deserve that at all. go have your own fun, get yourself a cake and enjoy yourself :)

They love you, even if you don't. Great family: full of love, values and care for each other. Sounds like you don't deserve them

The most effective weight loss life style change I've ever seen is working at an Amazon FC I've meet several people who've lost 60lb+ in under a year and kept it off. Ive been thinking they really should advertise that on their recruitment content.

Because peeing in bottles and wearing diapers is sooo attractive it brings in many recruits.

I'm guessing the sneak attack designed to ruin your happy occasions may be partly to blame for some of your problems.
