Today, I spent all day at the hospital with my grandma for some tests. When I drove her back home she decided to thank me with $50. Knowing she is unemployed, I told her I couldn't take a whole $50. She replied with "Ungrateful, just like your mother", then took the money and left. FML

You're greedy if you take it, ungrateful if you don't. You can't win.

You should've accepted, and taken her out to dinner. That way you would both win.

YDI. It's called the government: she's probably either on welfare or social security. How else would she have gotten $50 in the first place?

Apparently Grandma's written the book on ungrateful, I think.

Guys I totally agree with the OP. There is no way in HELL would I EVER take money from my grandmother only if it was for a birthday or Christmas etc. The OP was just being polite. FYL

Eh, don't sweat it, OP. She'll be dead soon.

This is why I always take money if someone offers it to me. I don't see why anyone should get mad if you take something they offer you, and arguing over who gets the money is just stupid.

Just remember that she'll be dead soon, so you won't have to deal with her anymore.

aw that sucks, all that matters is that you have a good heart :)

I know the feeling. My grandpa bought me a laptop for school with my dad's help, when I already told him the one I wanted. And the one I wanted was about 3 times better, and $200 cheaper. My dad called me ungrateful because I tried to save my grandpa money.
