You said "as PART of my presents." Way to try to disguise a non-FML as an FML. That does suck a little, but it clearly wasn't your only present. Get over yourself.
You're not a baby anymore, who cares if you don't get a gift from your parents. It is f'd up they tried to pass your money off as a gift, though.
Is there a chance that they forgot that you paid for your own books? You made it sound like this was the first time YOU paid for them, so maybe they forgot when the card came and thought that they were giving you their refund. I can see a card like that being sent to your home address even if the OP was the one that turned in their own books.
For their birthdays just go ahead and wrap up all their bills in a nice bag.
Why did they have the card in the first place?
#20 - she bought them herself which is what makes it an FML but you inferred that that's not the only gift so it's not too bad, although it is bad that they tried to pass it off as a present.
Blame the economy.

Is it just me, or are parents getting cheaper and cheaper these days?
My mom got me nothing for my B-Day. Many kids have to pay for their own schooling. It's really not a big deal though. I don't understand why they tried to pass it off as a gift though. Are they crazy?
