Today, I celebrated my birthday with my family. As part of my presents, my parents gave me prepaid debit card. When I got home, I looked at it again and realized it's the debit card you get from selling back books to our university bookstore. I bought my own books this year. They gave me my own refund. FML

Is it just me, or are parents getting cheaper and cheaper these days?

My mom got me nothing for my B-Day. Many kids have to pay for their own schooling. It's really not a big deal though. I don't understand why they tried to pass it off as a gift though. Are they crazy?

DAMN!! this would definitely suck! I mean, did you lose it or something that your parents found it and decided to give it back to you?

It's the thought that counts! :)

exactly, the thought being that they can't be bothered to spend money on a real gift.. You don't have to get him an iPad, just a thoughtful present of like 10 dollars would've been fine

Wow.. that does suck. My birthday was 2 months ago, and I still have yet to receive anything from either of my parents.

You say "as part of my presents" So im guessing it wasn't the only thing you got, i hope they gave you some other better stuff.

Sounds like something my parents would do. I don't even get presents anymore...just cards.

on my birthday my parents bought my brother a new barbeque, tv and furniture for his house...i got nothing lol. FML

They saved you the hassle of selling your books back yourself.

Parents suck. Just wait until they're old and you can ship them off to a cheap nursing home. They'll regret giving you cheap presents then.
