Today, I was pulled over and fined $100 for driving without a license, as I'd accidentally left home without my wallet. I later found my wallet wedged beside my car seat, where it had been the entire time. FML

If you go to court and prove you have it, it may be dismissed.

bring it to court, they should drop it as long as it was valid when the tickets was issued.

Do they just run random checks or did you do something for them to pull you over for in the first place? I often drive without my purse, which has my license in it.

Always put your wallet in the slot thingy near the radio.

So that we know where to find it. Hahahahaha

In NSW drivers can be fined for not carrying your licence while driving. Proving that you are a licensed driver after the event wont help here.

#30 Nope, you have to always have your licence on you when you're driving. Yes they can look your licence number up, which is what the officer probably did to prove that he has a valid licence, but the officer will still give you a fine. Only time you'd get away with a fine is if the officer isn't bothered to give you one.

Wow that's ridiculous. That's happened to me before but I've never been fined. That's truly shitty :(

Looks like it's time to clean your car.

By law you shouldn't had been fined in NSW you have 24 hours to take your licence into your nearest police station. As long as you licence can be looked up on the system and it's not suspended you by law have 24 hours to present it to a local station.

In NSW driving without a license will earn you an on-the-spot fine. You can present your license to a police station but it will not stop the police from issuing the fine when the incident has occurred.

I've had this happen recently was pulled over for RBT and they said that as long as I presented my valid drivers licence within 24 hours to my nears police station that I wouldn't be fined

I'd look into it further. I know this is state based, but on the other side of the country (WA), we don't have to actually have our licence on us. We just need to have a valid licence. Hope that's still the case, it was when I lost my purse with my licence in it a few years back. Look into it and appeal if it's the same over there.

I keep my license with my insurance and registration that way I don't have to worry about losing it

I had nearly the same thing happen, except that my then GF's 5 yr old son had removed it from my wallet (because he wanted a pic of me) & had dropped it between the seat & e-brake...long story short..the judge didn't care & I still had to pay a fine..fml
