Don't bother me

By anon - 11/07/2015 12:51 - Australia - Melbourne

Today, after coming home from an AFL match in Melbourne at about 11pm, I saw a woman asleep on the train as we neared the end of the line. Being a nice person, I went to wake her, to which she started screaming and trying to punch me. FML

Although she shouldn't have done that, you never know what might have happened to her in the past to make her have a reaction like that.

You probably just scared her. Don't worry OP, you did the right thing, sometimes people react in a negative way due to no fault of your own.

This reminded me of a scene in step brothers "NEVER WAKE A SLEEP WALKER!"

A lot of people wake with a fighting spirit. Imagine what the alarm or her husband must go through lol

My mom just about punched a nurse once when she was waking up from surgery, so I'm not surprised by what happened to OP.

Karma will come around when the times right.

Was it the Frankston line? If so, I feel your pain.

she shouldn't have done that, but everyone's fighting a battle in their own backyard. just try to be understanding bc maybe she's been through something traumatic for a reaction like that one

Might want to check yourself before you try correcting people, neared is also valid.

That's why if I noticed that here, I'd just alert transit and they'd probably send somebody out to check on her and handle it but I don't how easy that is where you are, here I could just tweet them. People can be violent when they're woken up, I've swatted at my mom when she's woken me, because I was startled. Imagine how terrifying it would be to be woken by a stranger? I'd freak the hell out if I woke up to a stranger touching me. Plus I know from experience here a lot of people passed out on public transport are drunk bums and they get quite scary. I'd rather let authorities deal with it, they're more experienced in handling such situations. It is great that you tried to be helpful, but imo it's best to just leave it, report it if you're concerned.

She was probably having a bad dream.
