sue for slander
Slander is spoken, libel is written (just FYI). So it would be libel :)
make little cards that say: did you like your meal? if you did please leave us a review. if not then please speak to us now so we can improve our service. thank you.

Well that's defamation actually. At least in Canada it's illegal. These are very serious grounds for a law suit.

Its seriously sick that someone is doing this to you. Hopefully he gets what's coming for him, as it sounds your business is seriously being affected by this.
Rob Duke just made a video on this too. Smh, these trolls are terrible.

I work in pr in Australia and a business can sue someone for defamation in this case if the reviews are fake as it's illegal to post fake reviews, I would assume the laws are similar in nz. Try google fake review laws for nz!

Counter troll with positive reviews. Get your friends to do it too as well as satisfied customers.
I agree with 1. I had a little trouble with the same thing a couple months ago.
