Easy mark

By supermanj76 - 04/05/2009 02:12 - United States

Today, a man came up to me and asked for a $50 bill in change. Being a good man, I said sure. I gave him the change and he gave me the $50 bill. After walking into Starbucks to buy a coffee, I handed the cashier my $50 bill. She called the cops. It was counterfeit. FML

Haha oh man that guy was clever. Sucks for you though. Hope you can find him and kick his ass!

Lesson learned: NEVER EVER change money for someone you don't know! Tell them to go to a shop or bank and change the money there. If they don't want to, you know why. Besides, if he was going to buy something with that money he would've had change automatically. No strangers need be involved. YDI for not using your common sense.

It takes two seconds to check that lower right hand corner--so YDI for not checking. But a YLIF for having the cops called on you after being nice.

anything smaller than a $50 is usually alright to exchange, but unless you have a marker that can identify counterfeit money then just don't do it.

I call bullshit, I saw a movie in Spanish where they did this trick.

Dude, who calls the cops over a counterfeit bill? Every service job I've ever had has assumed that the person received it as a mistake. You just hand it back to them and inform them that you can't accept it.

No offense, but YDI, the fact that he was asking a random person on the street, not a bank, should make it well obvious. This is either fake, or you're a moron. YDI, use some common sense please. 90% chance that ANYONE running around asking a random to change money over 20, is just looking for some sucker. And please explain to me, how changing someones money into smaller increments is doing a good deed to begin with? Next time, be smart, and let them use a bank.

YDI. Learn common sense. Also, learn to spot counterfeit things. It's a rather useful skill.

RANDOM GUY: "can you change my $50 bill?" ME: "whats wrong with going to a store and doing it?" YOU: "i somehow managed to get $50 in change despite being born yesterday, so sure!"

Why would the cashier at Starbucks call the cops? There is no logical reason why she would call the cops. All she has to say is " This bill looks fake, get another one"

ok im suprised no one has said this yet.... why didnt you check to see if it was real?? its not that hard just hold it up to the sky or a street lamp if it was at night. YDI
