Today, a man came up to me and asked for a $50 bill in change. Being a good man, I said sure. I gave him the change and he gave me the $50 bill. After walking into Starbucks to buy a coffee, I handed the cashier my $50 bill. She called the cops. It was counterfeit. FML

Haha oh man that guy was clever. Sucks for you though. Hope you can find him and kick his ass!

Lesson learned: NEVER EVER change money for someone you don't know! Tell them to go to a shop or bank and change the money there. If they don't want to, you know why. Besides, if he was going to buy something with that money he would've had change automatically. No strangers need be involved. YDI for not using your common sense.

This is exactly what happens in a book called No Promises In The Wind. (Except it's with a twenty dollar bill during the Great Depression, which is a lot of money for that time period.)

#73, no. "I have personally caught three fake bills, and gave them back to the customer" You do not do this. You are not supposed to give them back their fake money. In fact, it's illegal to give somebody money that you know to be fake. They're just going to go elsewhere until somebody accepts it. As for the bank replacing the bill for them, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. They will not replace the bill for them. If the bank did this, people would make counterfeit money, and tell the bank they want it replaced. Instant real money. I can't believe you gave their fake money back to them. Way to fail.

This is why people should spend a mere 30 seconds, to go online and find out how to detect counterfeit dollars. That way, they aren't ever going to get scammed. It's pretty easy to do, you know. That way, you can be a good guy AND still not get suckered! As to the girl who said "omg you could get rooobbbbeddd!!!" ...Ever heard of the second amendment, bitch? That's what guns are for. Pull a .45 out if he tries to go for you, and even the most hardcore criminal will back off and go "ok ok, everything's cool, take it easy, im outta here". The funniest thing I find is that the most defenseless people in the world (liberal women) tend to be the people who are most adamant about gun control. What- do you actually think that a killer who wants to kill you, will be impeded by some stupid "gun free zone" law? If people were responsible, educated citizens, like they used to be, crime would be a lot more scarce, and America would be a whole lot better. But everyone has this "Mr. Rogers" mentality, where we all live in perfect lives, blissfully unaware that there are evil people, and are just nice to everybody, that everything will be OK. That WOULD be true- in a perfect world. But in THIS world, and THIS country, for every nice guy, there's a bad guy. If we all would become intelligent, armed, and responsible, crime would go down really fast.

thats fake. why would you buy a coffee with a fifty dollar bill?

Why did you have 50$ worth of change on you? I think helping people is nice, but anything above 10 is suspicious

YDI for not knowing that it was counterfeit and for trusting strange people

lol #79 fail. He bought coffee with a 50 dollar bill because he wanted to get rid of it.

#79 LMAOOOO. Aw that sucks for you, but I hope you weren't charged or anything. He was clever to think of that, but that really sucks.

sorry, but you kind of deserve it because you shouldn't just give some random person change for a 50. that's pretty suspicious. and you bought coffee with it? a 50? wow.
