Every day I'm hustlin'

By Allen - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I brought home a vase, which I was proud of, that I made for my mother in my pottery class. My mother took one look at it and said, "Oh good, you can sell that in our garage sale." FML

I relate to this one. I decorated a pot in grade 5 for Mother's Day. After the flowers in it died, my mother threw the whole thing out.

I have a feeling she probably wasn't serious, right? if she was, FYL.

Take it from me, kid: unless you grew up in a creative (if not somewhat insane) family, parents don't give a rats ass about art. It the cold truth.

It sucks, but I agree with #16 and #32 ... some people place no sentimental value on things you make them. It's a fact of life.

that's something my mom would do lol

aww thats mean! :( she should at least pretend she likes it to not hurt ur feelings.

Yea, I know how this is.....kinda. I used to make my mom things for mother's day....she would be like 'thanks, love you' and then I'd never see it again....i.e. homemade earrings, etc. Anyway, now she just points things out she likes and i buy them. That's not to say an occasional homemade gift isn't great, and I'm sure your pottery is better than anything I could ever make.

your mom's got the right idea-- it's a one-of-a-kind vase. dude, if you ever become famous, that's going to be totally priceless. I suggest that you sign it.

#39 =) seriously, just take it as she doesn't understand true art. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it takes an artist to know one. Maybe your mom just isn't an artist. or whatever.

that's okay. the day my quarter project came out of the kiln my ceramics teacher told me to go take a look at two of my pots. the glaze didn't come out that well but i told her i thought they didnt look that bad. she then told me that if it were her, she would throw them away.
