Every day I'm hustlin'

By Allen - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I brought home a vase, which I was proud of, that I made for my mother in my pottery class. My mother took one look at it and said, "Oh good, you can sell that in our garage sale." FML

I relate to this one. I decorated a pot in grade 5 for Mother's Day. After the flowers in it died, my mother threw the whole thing out.

I have a feeling she probably wasn't serious, right? if she was, FYL.

Unless you're four and it's cute that you made something, or you're actually talanted and made something nice, your mother doesn't really have to cherish it forever just because you made it. If you wanted to make sure she appreciated it, you should have made it clear that it was a gift.

I agree with 13, but your mom still sounds like a downright bitch to me.

well hey i guess she didn't think it was too crappy, or she wouldn't think it could fetch any money in the garage sale. that's a plus, right?

Not a big deal, some people aren't sentimental.

It is not good when people such as mums and dads don't appreciate the gifts we make ourselves even though we are not really talented. At least we tried for them. Anyway next time buy something instead of doing anything.

I don't see what the problem is. You could make money off it and your mom would still be happy. She doesn't have to like the vase, it's her own opinion. Hand-made creations aren't always perfect. It's a lot easier to just trade it for something else, like money.

Lots of people make things and sell them...

I agree with #16. Hell with this economy, I'd rather sell something than have it when I don't need it too.
