False hope

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, after suggesting to my daughter for a while that she should try out for a cheerleading team to become more confident, she went to tryouts. She didn't make the team and she's spent the last six hours in her room crying. FML

Now is she upset you pushed her into something she didn't want to do or because she didn't get something you convinced her she could do? Why do parents suggest really specific things? I mean, fair enough suggest stuff for her to get into, but give her a few options and let her pick one she wants to do.

Sorry but that's YDI for convincing her to try out for the team in the first place.

138 chill out, the reason it's like that is what the groups image has made itself. like how adults think all teenagers are trouble, and suck it up and stop bitching, I know you are different but there are many few and you arn't making a nice image for yourself anyway.

You deserved it. Cheerleading is for girls who are already (overly) self-confident. To build her self-confidence you should encourage her to do the things she likes and she's good at, not the things that are considered popular by some (usually stupid) teenagers.

Enjoy your kid going through high school as an emo/goth. YDI

when women incourage other women they make them do dumb shit. good job scaring ur daughter.

i think u shld hlp her to build her confidence first by praising her for things she has done well. bit by bit. and also tell her ways to improve or guide her whn she has failed at something. teach her how to deal with failure OP...

well not all cheerleaders are ****** but I know one thing... they ARE all bitches
