YDI...but really it's FML for your daughter. that's like telling your kid who loves singing in the shower that trying out for American Idol (or some other such show) would help with their stage fright and spur their professional music career. Should start with actually getting her into things that will, in fact, help build and boost her confidence (because some kids don't have it to begin with, go figure), not potentially make her a nice facade (aka turn her into a snob), or worse, kill her spirit. Such activities include, gymnastics, martial arts, track and field, etc etc. C'mon the first thing you thought of was Cheerleading??! next time think things through, mom ;]
Just have to say most high school cheer leaders are fat and ugly here in CA
You encouraged your daughter to join a sport that requires her to shake her ass while wearing a mini skirt that barely covers said ass in front of hundreds of drooling pervs and people who wish cheerleaders would just move the **** out of the way so they can watch the game in order to improve her confidence? Good job. I think that if her self esteem is low she needs to make friends with her ass covered or else she might start thinking that the only way people will like her is if she's wearing ass skirts.
I read your comment and felt the need to respond...the reason the skirts are short is because they have to be in order to do stunts (I.E. splits, tumbling, and even tossing the flyers in the air to do said things). I know this because I was a cheerleader in high school, no I was not a **** and no I was not a bitch. I had one good friend I'd been friends with since Kindergarten who was a "band geek" with buck teeth. I was shy in high school and always wanted to try out for cheer, although I didn't have prior experience. I tried out and got chosen and it was a great experience; I met a lot of nice people and we even ended up winning several competitions, including Districts. That definitely increased my confidence. You sound like an ignorant person that was probably teased by cheerleaders in school, which if that was the case I'm sorry you had to experience that, but that doesn't excuse the ignorance of your comment. Meanwhile, I do agree with the rest of the commenters maybe OP shouldn't have suggested she try out without preparing her first. But OP, if your daughter really might enjoy cheer get her into gymnastics. Some gyms have cheerleading teams and they teach them A-Z.
At least she tried...but I think if she wants to improve in that field she should make the choices...
That's the se thing that happened to me and u was crying then I thought about all the girls on that team and they are all bitches and I'm glad I don't have to deal with them

Now is she upset you pushed her into something she didn't want to do or because she didn't get something you convinced her she could do? Why do parents suggest really specific things? I mean, fair enough suggest stuff for her to get into, but give her a few options and let her pick one she wants to do.
Sorry but that's YDI for convincing her to try out for the team in the first place.
