False hope

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, after suggesting to my daughter for a while that she should try out for a cheerleading team to become more confident, she went to tryouts. She didn't make the team and she's spent the last six hours in her room crying. FML

Now is she upset you pushed her into something she didn't want to do or because she didn't get something you convinced her she could do? Why do parents suggest really specific things? I mean, fair enough suggest stuff for her to get into, but give her a few options and let her pick one she wants to do.

Sorry but that's YDI for convincing her to try out for the team in the first place.

off to the ever rewarding career at Walmart. I hope you're happy now.

Mother win. She definitely has no confidence now

OP obviously your daughter has some bad self esteem issues. Did she even practice?

Also it's not really an fyl, more like fhl

awh...u made her lose all her little confidence left

we are sooooooo glad you discovered that. all by yourself too? I am impressed.

Cm'on Cinn, Everyone else got the memo. Where were you at? (hides from grammer nazis at ending a sentence with a prepositional phrase)

Filling my brain with revision, RedPill, memos are in a big pile waiting to be read once I've finished :P

Aww, that sucks op! Cheerleading is fun but in my experience it was all the friends I made that made it worthwhile! Tell her not to give up and try out for something else! Softball was way more fun than cheerleading, sign her up! When she makes a homerun it will give her confidence and she won't have to wear a skirt! =)

Guess that earned her a lot of confadence…

why would you tell her to sign up for something she has no experience in? you set her up for failure.

Yes learn to take failure better. Life is just that, failure. And living is just a slow way to die...
