False red flag

By Anonymous - 13/02/2013 05:12 - United States - Palo Alto

Today, working as a waitress, I was asked by a customer, yet again, how my baby was doing. I don't have a baby, but I do look very similar to my 25-year-old coworker, who's a new mom. People confuse us all the time. Unfortunately, my crush, who was standing nearby, doesn't know that. FML

Say "Sorry, I do not have a child, my coworker is the one who recently had a baby" very loudly, so your crush can hear.

This is not the mother you are looking for...

You two ought to get matching T-shirts that read "The Fertile One" and "The Barren One," and that should clear up any confusion going forward.

Or how about "The Fertile One" and "The Virgin" IDK

Or "The One Who Knows How to Use Birth Control" and "The One Who Doesn't." Of course, the second one needs to make sure the first one is close by or the shirt is just confusing.

So...if he was standing nearby wouldn't he have heard you telling these customers that you don't have a baby, your coworker does? Unless you pretended it was your baby and it freaked him out? If he all he heard was people asking about your baby, then you can just explain the situation to him.

"Oh hey, you probably just heard a complete stranger ask how my baby is doing. It was a case of mistaken identity. I don't have a baby. Thought you would want to know. Anyway...have a nice day."

If you are single but he didn't want to be with you because he thought you had a baby ( true or not) then he wouldn't be worth it anyway.

@23 So you saying the guy is a asshat if he's not interested in a pre-made family?

#40 pretty much, yes. If a guy likes someone, them having children shouldn't put them off. But then again, I am 30 so I would expect anyone I was with to have baggage.

Why not just say, oh, it's not me, you're thinking of so-and-so; a lot of people think we look alike. And say it loud enough for your crush to hear.

That's even you say loud enough for him to hear... "I don't have a baby"

You should have put on a sad sorry about how hungry "your baby" is all the time and that you can barely afford formula, diapers etc. . . You work for tips, right? Who wouldn't want to give you a few extra dollars to help you with that cute baby of yours? :P

Who cares about a waitresse's bad life choices? Bring the right order in a timely manner and keep the drinks full, that's what gets a good tip.

Well... At least it shows people care? There is hope for humanity yet!

Maybe it's time for a diet or trip to the gym
