I smell a law suit
I hate how we live in such a litigious society. Yes, sue for vehicle replacement and a little on top. But suing for ridiculous amounts of money because you can is greedy unless it was intentional or grossly negligent like not putting the lug nuts on at all. I assure you they didn't intentionally do whatever caused the wheel to come off. Not to mention, I can't tell you how many times working on my own car I heard a sound and couldn't reproduce it the next day trying to work on it. Happens all the time with professionals too. The thing is, no matter how good you are, everyone makes mistakes. It's 100% unavoidable.
I think, and maybe I'm just completely mad here, someone not making sure a wheel is not properly attached to a car is a fine display of being "grossly negligent". Like, "not putting lug nuts on at all"??? maybe they did but not properly which once again is grossly negligent lol the bloody WHEEL flew off. That's not a little hiccup. OP's vehicle is totalled as a result.
As a mechanic myself, it's almost impossible to improperly put a tire back on if you're doing your job correctly. This definitely was a result of someone being lazy & skipping steps or what not. Not anywhere near a "hiccup" as you so call it.
Get a lawyer and sue the living hell out of them. That was serious neglegence that endangered your life and the lives of anyone on the road with you and that kind of neglegence should not go unpunished.
I'm with #17. sue what your owed and a LITTLE on top.. a 100,000$ goes a hell of a long way if it's used correctly. nobody needs millions.
First, you wouldn't even get millions, second if you did, the lawyer & court rape the **** out of you with their fees & what not to make sure you didnt get millions.
My husband works at an autoshop and they've been sued before. They fixed a guys car and rode off with it, few days later it broke down in the middle of the highway, he sued. Come to find out, he had another problem he tried to fix himself and it wasn't the autoshops fault. Luckily. Anyways they were gonna be in big fiancial trouble over $100,000. it's definitely worth the lawsuit.
Dealer owes you a new car, then

They should reimburse you because they said it's fine, someone didn't do their job properly and they could've killed you.
