OP, you have not heard the horror stories teachers tell about students leaning too far back and the consequences. I've heard about death, paralyzation, mental damage, and some other things.
dude that's bull crap the teachers are trying to scare you
Lol sarcasm is hard to detect over the Internet. But seriously, someone I knew died like this so don't be so quick to judge. There are a lot of ways to die or be injured that may be considered "silly"
Dont you mean college class
people who get paralysed and such when they fall down are people who lack the basic instinct to try and land softly. seriously, kids are indestructible. what kind of poorly designed/evolved creature can't handle the force of it's own body hitting the ground from the height it SITS DOWN at? unless you do NOTHING to prevent from catching the pull force of your fall in the back of your kneck you will be fine. darwin awards for the kids who died falling off their chair.
Compass, what the ****? Why you backing out like a pussy when you were called a 3rd grader? If you believe that it's dangerous, stick to it and don't pretend it's "sarcasm".
#64: No, don't tell them that story! Let them keep thinking the human body is unbreakable.
Actually when I was in 4th grade I sat literally about a 1' maybe 1 1/2'... 2' max away from the teachers desk and did this exact same stunt and hit the teachers desk. It's not the floor you have to worry about, but what's there when you fall. There could be a tack that could pierce the base of your head, where the spinal cord and brain stem connect, which is also a pressure point, if it pierces it could paralyze the majority of your body.
dude we don't need the scientific breakdown of the worst-case-scenario!! JEEZ!!!
It isn't the fall itself that does damage, it's the obstacles found in a classroom such as desk corners, pencils, scissors, open binder rings, etc... #72, you gotta think about these kinds of things. The save-the-body instinct isn't the only thing that comes into play when one falls off of a chair.
Seriously that always happens to the kids that don't listen. I dont feel sorry and ydi sir.
And now you are being stupid enough to ask for sympathy??? YDI, honey
its probably not a good idea to grab something of lesser weight than yourself to try to keep yourself from falling, its not going to go your way.
bur technically it will go her way.. by falling on top if her!
I did that and I had to sit on my knees because I couldn't handle a chair
lmao. you talk about chairs like you needa be of higher intelligence than the average population to sit in one.
ha
I'm sorry that happened. I've been there!

I haven't done that since 3rd grade. A boy in my class fell and busted his head open... the blood...
