Get out

Today, I’m considering a divorce. My father-in-law has never liked me and is very vocal about that, names like "bastard" and "prick" are common. My wife is normally very headstrong and takes no nonsense, but she lets him treat me this way so she must agree with him. The wedding was only a year ago. FML

she could be hoping you eventually stand up for yourself. She might simply know stepping in herself would make him act like more of an ass, and wants you to put him in his place. if she still let's him get away with it maybe talk to her, not much a bunch of people on the internet can do to fix this for you bud.

she might be afraid of him. her control everywhere else could be compensation. she did marry you after all. have a great to hear with you.

You dumb son-of-a-bitch! People often use curse words as terms of endearment, douche-canoe. How can you be such an ignorant asshole, asshole?

I am without a doubt terrified of my dads opinion. because I love and respect him so highly over everyone in my life, because he has never not been there for me or pushed me further or gotten me where I am now. So if he thinks something about a man I'm with, that is negative, I have tried ever so hard to help him see otherwise but he keeps to it until.......I don't know..sees me be treated better, even then still suspicious..he also says really nice things, but hardly around the man I'm with..not sure why. don't take this too hard even better, speak with your father in law. you married his daughter. even if it is not his place to say for her to stay or not, his opinion of you matters so much to your wife. sounds like theirs a great lack of communication all around. divorce isn't just over spoiled mild
