Great practice

Today, my step-mom let me practice driving, since I got my permit the other day. I mistook the gas for the brake and launched our dog into the windshield. The dog is okay, but my sister, who was also in the car, will never let me live this down and caught it on video. FML

They make dog harnesses and straps just for riding in cars. You really might want to invest in both before taking that dog in a car ever again.

OP - Sometimes shit happens, especially when you are just learning to drive. it’s even worse if you hit the accelerator instead of the brake when you’re trying to stop. when I was a teen I had washed the car and was pulling it back into the garage. Somehow I hit the accelerator instead of the brake at the end and in my panic pressed harder still - End result car damaged, garage damaged, they had to re-brick the wall at the back of the garage… OP first - if are just learning to drive keep the distractions minimum. No dog in the car, no one who isn’t a responsible driver, and pay attention to the road and the controls… Eventually you will outlive this incident. it might even save you life some day if you learn from it - always be aware where the pedals and controls are.

Anyone that got into the vehicle with a new driver that has their own license should have known letting the dog in was a bad idea, and the first thing they should have done is give the basic "brake on the left, gas on the right" quip... don't feel too bad OP you will hopefully learn, and the experienced drivers should have 100% known the dangers of a new driver...

I will NEVER understand how people manage to hit the wrong pedal. One is to the right, one is more to the center. If you can't figure that out, don't get behind the wheel. Thank God the dog is okay.
