I had a deaf cat for years that would get out, hide, whatever. I learned, open a can of tuna (the oil version if you have it). Walk around the house waving your hand over the can. Be sure to open closets, the door might have been open just enough. Then, if you think kitty got outside, put the open can just outside the door. Cat will come back to where it went out, and the tuna will attract. Pay attention though, watch for feral and wild animals that might show up. This worked for me for years.

Ok run to walmart and buy a "Hello Kitty" toy or whatever. Next get cheese so you can get a mouse in yo house and then the cat will come after the mouse. Last but not least, get the cat a hearing aid, they probably have one for animals

I ran over a cat once. wasn't my fault and there was literally nothing I could do. they do make a weird crunching noise that sticks with you for a while.
