If it's any comfort, mine was locked in a house for sale and was missing for 19 days. He eventually came home (very very hungry) and had survived off of toilet water the whole time. Don't give up hope!

it could still smell leave out it's treats or food that could attract other animals but atleast it's a shot at the cat coming home, or leave something of yours out the smell cats don't forget smell I don't think

Yes, leaving out food works. Leaving out clothes with your body smell is important too. Don't close the door until it comes back. I've seen this technique work two different times to recover lost kitties.

My dog, I open her treats in a different room woft the smell around she comes to me or woft the smell of meat she does the same thing. Being deaf heightens other senses right should be the same for a cat. Just figured. Smell is comforting to a dog when the person is away. I'd try if I lost my dog. I'm surprised no one thought of this. I'm on an iPhone so

Try putting some food outside, something wet and smelly, that may lure him home. Or try spreading out some litter from his catbox in a trail from your house in different directions around your neighborhood. If he smells it, he'll recognize his own scent from it and follow it home. Good luck, and I hope you find him. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a kitty.
