How're you doing?

Today, the checkout guy at my local store asked me if I had my hair cut. I answered and started talking about my hair, and he gave me a really weird look. He was talking to his friend, who I hadn't noticed in the queue behind me. FML

Rude of him to talk to the guy behind you when you're standing at the till. He could've waited. Not your bad OP, don't sweat it.

This is why I always wear a Bluetooth or earbuds in public. No one ever questions me when I start talking to the voices in my head.

"I answered and started talking about my hair" How exactly do you talk about your hair? You got it cut, end of story.

Where they got it cut, what style it was, how good it feels, etc.

He asked if she got her hair cut, not for a play by play. If he wanted to know that much information, he would asked her where she got it done and if she likes it. People will take any given opportunity to carry on about themselves, no matter the topic. I do it too. It's just the way of the world.

Sounds like something that would happen to me. I feel for you!

I literally felt uncomfortable reading that. Poor OP - those situations are the worst.

That was his douche for talking to someone behind you.

That's actually so rude. You are the customer in front of him, you need to have his attention. At the very least he could have pretended to have asked you when you started talking.

What business does he have giving you a weird look like you're insane? He could've just cleared things up vocally.
