This is not senility. It is not normal for someone to forget what they’re cooking while they’re making it. I would urge you to try to persuade your mother to see the doctor. If she’s unwilling to go, I would have you remind her that the sooner she sees someone, the more effective the treatment options. This also may have nothing to do with her brain health, for instance a blood pressure issue can cause similar symptoms. If she still is unwilling, try to be supportive. And remind her that she has people who love and care about her and that, no matter the results, you’ll be there for her. These things can be scary for anyone to deal with.
The fact that she neither remembered what she was cooking nor was able to figure it out through observation is a huge problem. Grandpa Simpson is funny as a fictional character. Seeing your relative turn into him mentally is not.
I agree. this sounds ds like a stroke. She needs to see her Doctor.
