I'm a burden

Today, my boyfriend of almost five years told me, due to health issues, he can't move in with me or propose to me. He knows I support him, but if it was a serious health issue, wouldn't he want to be married, knowing I'm there? FML

You are dating for 5 years and he is not able to move to the "next level" of your relationship due to a health issue he can not discuss with you? Let me put a big BS flag on this. You should assume that he is not ready, for whatever reason, to either move in together and/or to marry and the health issue is - mostly - an excuse.

OP, you remind me of my friend. She went on a Tinder date and saw a ring on the guy's finger. However, he told her not to worry as he's not married. Apparently, it's his male friend's ring and he simply put it on so that it doesn't get lost while the friend's in the army (yes, I know...) Guess what - she believed him.

SSI payments are canceled if you have a long-term relationship, common-law marriage, or marriage with anyone. He can't move in or marry you because he'd lose his income, and you'd have to support both of you.

No, when I'm sick, I'd rather be alone. It makes things worse to be surrounded by sad people.
