I'm going to make it awkward

By Wellthen - This FML is from back in 2016 but it's good stuff

Today, I was fired from my job. Not because I don't do a good job but because my boss didn't feel it was appropriate to have an affair with my wife and have to face me everyday. FML

That seems like something you should talk to HR about.

Get rid of them both, OP. they're both bastards. I'm sorry about your situation

I wonder how that conversation panned out. "Hi OP, just wanted to let you know I have feelings for your wife, I think it's best if you clear out your desk."

how about Boss : Your fired OP : What? Why? Boss : I've been sleeping with your wife, i don't need to see your face everyday. OP : ..... Boss : just get the hell out

That'd be something to being too HR and/or a lawyer's attention

2 things. 1. Go to HR, I'm pretty sure that isn't legal 2. Aren't divorces great.... no they're not but they are a necessity in these cases.

This seems like an fml that the op really needs to provide more info. What happened next? Are you still with your wife? Why? Have you talked ti hr or a lawyer?

Lawsuit and divorce. Looks like you'll be busy!

Grounds for a "crime of passion" double homicide in my book.

Then just pretend you went insane after being fired so you can plead insanity.

What a coward and incredibly unprofessional

OP probably doesn't have any legal recourse. Most states are "at-will" which means you can be fired for literally anything that doesn't fall under a federally protected status like age, race, religion, etc. Because something something capitalism free market.

Firing someone because of an affair is a violation of federal law, so at will doesn't apply here.

I know it sucks to be fired for bs reasons like that but a boss should be allowed to fire anyone for any reason. It doesn't make it right or morally okay but it should be allowed.

34- if it's not right or morally acceptable then why should it be allowed?!?!

A boss should NOT be allowed to fire a person for any reason, and I actually find the whole "at will" thing completely ridiculous. There's no job security for employees, they have to walk on egg shells out of fear they could be fired for basically anything, and it can cause some bosses to develop an intense superiority complex. Studies even show, employees flourish when they feel secure, because they're not constantly stressed. They do worse when they're always afraid that they can be let go for anything.
